Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) has served our community for the past 40 years as the child care resource and referral agency. 4-C offers professional training classes for adults who want to work in child care.
Two years ago a program was begun to offer this training to the Hispanic Community in Spanish. Forty participants completed the course and fifteen were able to open their own child care business.
The first of many graduates to open her business was Yolayne Pantoja in July 2008.
Yolayne shared the following about her experience with the 4-C program.
“Community Coordinated Child Care gave me the tools and the training to become a professional adult and fulfill the American dream. After all isn’t that why we left our family and came to this wonderful country?”
After two years there is a similar project. This program is funded by Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and 4-C.
This project offers the following benefits.
- FREE Training classes in Spanish
- FREE CPR &First Aid in Spanish
- FREE Technical Assistance.
We hope that many from the Hispanic Community will take full advantage of this valuable opportunity.
Participants must qualify under the CAP income guidelines. If you have questions or would like an appointment, call Zurima Pena-Lopez, Spanish Recruitment Coordinator at (502) 618-5158 or email her at zurima-pena-lopez@4cforkids.com.
