When loose parts are introduced to Infants and toddlers\, rich and magnificent explorations occur. In this session\, the participants will discover how loose parts support infants’ and toddlers’ in every area of their development. DESCRIPTION:Having accurate information about child development and an understanding of appropriate expectations for children’s behavior at every age helps parents see their children in a positive light and promotes their healthy development. Information can come from many sources\, including family members as well as parent education classes\, or even surfing the internet. Studies show information is most effective when it comes at the precise time parents need it to understand their own children. Parents who experienced harsh discipline or other negative childhood experiences may need extra help to change the parenting patterns they learned as children. SUMMARY:Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma
DESCRIPTION:This training was designed for child care providers and staff on recognition and prevention Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma. Participants will learn the early signs of maltreatment and the various injuries and conditions that may result from vigorous shaking\, slamming or impacting the head of an infant or young child. They will also be provided tools for dealing with a crying infant and ways to share information with parents to prevent abuse from occurring. Training objectives are to review the statistics of abusive head trauma; to define and describe abusive head trauma and its associated injuries; to discuss risk factors and prevention\, and to understand the outcomes for victims. \nNotice: This is an in person class located at 4-C’s new office!   \nLocation: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) \n908 S. 8th Street\, Suite 201\, Louisville\, KY 40203 (Map) \nLicensed and Certified Child Care providers are now required to obtain a minimum of 1.5 clock hours of training every 5 years in the area of Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma. \nLevel 1 CDA 1 CC 2\,4 Audience-All \n2 Credit Hours \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur.
