SUMMARY:Routines\, Rituals and Research with Preschool Children
DESCRIPTION:As we move into the “new normal” and progress towards fall; routines\, rituals and research have become an important part of our lives and the lives of our children and families. How can we reflect and reconsider our classroom routines based upon the needs of the children? Routines are a collection of daily practices that create encounters with children\, the adults\, and the environment. What daily practices would you like to reconsider or reinvent within your classrooms? Rituals are often special practices that are repeated to create habitual behaviors\, for example greeting a child or saying goodbye can be rituals that promote social interaction and care between classmates. Rituals differ from routines because they create a shared sense of everyday life. What parts of life within the context of your classroom would you like to share among the children? Join us for a discussion on how to add rituals into your classroom which promote the sharing of experiences between children and adults. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. DESCRIPTION:This six hour professional development workshop provides overviews of child abuse/neglect\, developmentally appropriate practices\, and health & safety practices. It is required of all new child care staff within the first 90 days of hire. This class will be taught in two 2-hour zoom classes with homework in between for a total of 6 hours of content. You must be able to participate in both classes (Saturday\, August 15 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and Saturday\, August 22 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and complete the required assignment to receive credit for this class. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training.
