SUMMARY:Nutrition in the Early Childhood Setting
DESCRIPTION:Proper nutrition in early childhood promotes optimal brain development\, physical growth\, a strong immune system and overall well being. In this training\, educators will learn the components of and how to provide nutritious meals by utilizing resources available and incorporating nutrition into their curriculum and daily practice. Participants will brainstorm how to implement family style dining in the classroom to encourage lifelong healthy habits and nutrition. Learners will discuss the similarities of Kentucky state regulations and the Child and Adult Food Program regulations. SUMMARY:Inclusive Physical Activities for Young Children
DESCRIPTION:Learn to create environments that help young children with disabilities develop their movement skills in a natural setting while playing with typical peers. These physical activities need only inexpensive equipment and small spaces\, can accommodate children of various ages and abilities\, can be done by families at home\, and are fun. Participants will: Describe developmentally appropriate\, non-competitive\, and inclusive physical activities for preschoolers of all abilities. Explain how to lead these physical activities using inexpensive equipment and small spaces to allow all preschoolers the freedom to experiment and explore movement. Describe how to modify each physical activity to include children with a wide variety of developmental delays and disabilities alongside typical peers. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. SUMMARY:Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma
DESCRIPTION:This training was designed for child care providers and staff on recognition and prevention Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma. Participants will learn the early signs of maltreatment and the various injuries and conditions that may result from vigorous shaking\, slamming or impacting the head of an infant or young child. They will also be provided tools for dealing with a crying infant and ways to share information with parents to prevent abuse from occurring. Training objectives are to review the statistics of abusive head trauma; to define and describe abusive head trauma and its associated injuries; to discuss risk factors and prevention\, and to understand the outcomes for victims. \nNotice: This is an in person class located at 4-C’s new office!   \nLocation: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) \n908 S. 8th Street\, Suite 201\, Louisville\, KY 40203 (Map) \nLicensed and Certified Child Care providers are now required to obtain a minimum of 1.5 clock hours of training every 5 years in the area of Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma. \nLevel 1 CDA 1 CC 2\,4 Audience-All \n2 Credit Hours \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur.
