SUMMARY:Super Saturday!
DESCRIPTION:It’s a Super Saturday! Join us for a full day of training with two tracks to choose from. Get 6 hours of KY ECE-TRIS training in one day! Plus prizes and giveaways! Lunch is on your own\, and we will have a 30 min break. \nLocation: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) \n908 S. 8th Street\, Suite 201\, Louisville\, KY 40203 (Map) \nChoose one of these two options. \nOption 1: Art and STEM – 6 hrs – Tickets below\n9:00-12:00 Unlocking the Language of Art – Facilitator Courtney Pearce \nJoin us for an immersive and inspiring session where educators discover how to nurture children’s artistic expression as a powerful tool for communication\, curiosity\, and emotional insight. As children grow more confident with art materials\, they begin to use them as a language to express what they know\, feel\, and wonder. In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll learn how to cultivate the language of art through process-based art explorations and intentional classroom practices. Discover how to thoughtfully set up art spaces\, choose open-ended materials\, and guide young artists without limiting their creativity. Through your own creative participation\, you’ll gain practical strategies to support children’s artistic fluency\, laying the foundation for deeper communication\, creativity\, and critical thinking. Walk away inspired\, empowered\, and ready to transform your space into a hub of discovery and expression. \n12:30-3:30 STEM Senses: Exploring Light\, Sound\, & Smell  – Facilitator Darice Hancock \nIn this playful and hands-on training\, participants will delve into the sensory aspects of STEM\, focusing not on what children touch but on what they see\, hear\, and smell. We’ll explore how light\, sound\, and scent invite children to test ideas\, observe patterns\, and make discoveries. Participants will experiment with simple\, affordable materials and walk away with sensory-rich STEM provocations that support curiosity and engagement across all ages. \nOption 2: Exploring Play – 6 hrs – Tickets below\n9:00-12:00 Patterns in Play: Understanding Schemas – Facilitator Liz Walker \nHave you ever noticed a child repeatedly lining up cars\, dropping toys from the same height\, or wrapping everything up in a blanket? These patterns aren’t random—they’re schemas! In this engaging three-hour training\, early childhood educators will dive into the fascinating world of schematic play. Participants will learn to recognize the most common schemas in young children\, understand how these patterns support development\, and explore ways to plan responsive\, meaningful learning experiences that nurture each child’s natural curiosity. Through real-life examples\, hands-on activities\, and collaborative planning\, educators will leave feeling inspired to observe more deeply\, plan more intentionally\, and advocate for the importance of play in early learning. \n12:30-3:30 Loose Parts Play: Fostering Creativity\, Curiosity\, and Problem Solving – Facilitator Angie Kinser \nIn this hands-on training\, educators will discover loose parts play\, an approach that fosters creativity\, exploration\, and critical thinking in young children. Participants will examine the value of loose parts as tools for open-ended\, child-directed learning and discover how these materials support all areas of development. Through discussion and activities\, educators will learn how to design engaging invitations to play using loose parts\, and how to incorporate these experiences into daily routines. Educators will also collaborate in small groups to design and set up their own invitations to play using a variety of loose parts\, gaining practical strategies they can bring back to their classrooms. \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur. Your presence at the event constitutes your consent to be photographed\, filmed\, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release of any and all recorded media of your appearance\, voice\, and name for any purpose in connection with 4-C and our partners including use on websites\, in social media\, news and advertising. In this training\, you will hear from a panel of trainers\, coaches\, and teachers who recently returned from a study tour to the town of Reggio and its schools. SUMMARY:Strengthening Families: Knowledge of Child Development
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator Liz Walker: \nHaving accurate information about child development and an understanding of appropriate expectations for children’s behavior at every age helps parents see their children in a positive light and promotes their healthy development. Information can come from many sources\, including family members as well as parent education classes\, or even surfing the internet. Studies show information is most effective when it comes at the precise time parents need it to understand their own children. Parents who experienced harsh discipline or other negative childhood experiences may need extra help to change the parenting patterns they learned as children. Please join us to learn more about how you as an early childhood professional can support families for optimal outcomes for their family and community. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Kosair Charities Face It Movement. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. SUMMARY:Strengthening Families: Concrete Support in Times of Need
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator Liz Walker: \nPromoting strong\, healthy family relationships provides far-reaching benefits that go beyond the family itself. Healthy families lead to healthy children\, communities\, and economic prosperity. Strengthening Families Concrete Support in Times of Need will help you connect families to resources in times of need. Every family\, at some point\, needs support. “A time of need” can be described as the birth of a child\, supporting a child with special needs\, choosing the right center or school\, trauma\, mental illness\, violence\, or poverty. This session aims to educate providers on how to strengthen the family’s ability to access services and advocate for their needs. By the end of the session\, providers will know how to direct families to early intervention support\, and access 211\, the Louisville\, KY-based essential community services hotline. Lastly\, after attending this session you will be able to leverage the natural strengths of a family by asking powerful positive questions upon enrollment that foster deep connections from the start! \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Kosair Charities Face It Movement. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. This training will be conducted via Zoom\, and you will be required to participate via video and audio through a computer\, phone\, or tablet. \nLevel 2   CDA 4  CC 6  Audience-All \n2 Credit Hours \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur. Your presence at the event constitutes your consent to be photographed\, filmed\, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release of any and all recorded media of your appearance\, voice\, and name for any purpose in connection with 4-C and our partners including use on websites\, in social media\, news and advertising. SUMMARY:Strengthening Families: Social and Emotional Development
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator Liz Walker: \nThis training will help you understand how to support children in learning how to positively interact with others\, self-regulate their behaviors\, and effectively communicate their feelings – all of which have positive impacts on their relationships with family members\, other adults\, and peers. Challenging behaviors or delayed development can create extra stress for families\, so early identification and support for both parents and the child are critical to keeping children on track. It’s never easy to start these conversations\, and it can be hard to find the right resources. Join 4-C to discover some talking points\, local resources\, and more! By the end of the session\, you will feel more confident in understanding social-emotional development\, and in your ability to refer families to needed resources as challenges arise. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Kosair Charities Face It Movement. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training.
