SUMMARY:Scheduling and Carefree Timelessness
DESCRIPTION:Creating scheduling that allows for carefree timelessness can be very difficult to achieve within a child care program. Stop watching the clock and learn what to do instead. During our discussion we will explore what is needed in a schedule and what stands in your way of renegotiating your relationship with time! Learn how the overscheduling of children is impacting their well-being and play. The session will provide educators with an opportunity to create a plan for adding more time to their schedule for children to play. We will explore the decline of play\, the impact and what we can do about it as educators! Please bring a copy of your classroom daily schedule. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. This training will be conducted via Zoom\, and you will be required to participate via video and audio through a computer\, phone\, or tablet. \nLevel 3   CDA 1  CC 1   Audience-All \n2 Credit Hours

SUMMARY:Beyond Measure: Film Screening and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:In Beyond Measure\, we set out to challenge the assumptions of our current education story. Rather than ask why our students fail to measure up\, this film asks us to reconsider the greater purpose of education. What if our education system valued personal growth over test scores? Put inquiry over mimicry? Encouraged passion over rankings? What if we decided that the higher aim of school was not the transmission of facts or formulas\, but the transformation of every student? And what if this paradigm-shift was driven from the ground up? By students\, parents\, and educators? By all of us? In Beyond Measure\, we find a revolution brewing in public schools across the country. From rural Kentucky to New York City\, schools that are breaking away from an outmoded\, test-driven education are shaping a new vision for our classrooms. These are schools that see critical thinking\, communication\, exploration\, experimentation\, collaboration\, and creativity as the key to good education. And they are dramatically improving  outcomes for children of all backgrounds. They are schools where practically every\nstudent graduates and goes on to finish college. \nParticipants will register through Eventbrite. You will be sent a link to screen the film\, Beyond Measure. You must view the film between October 7 and 14 and participate in the follow-up session on October 14\, 2020 to receive 2.5 hours of credit. This is a 2-part class. Everyone who registers for the film screening will also be sent a Zoom link to the follow up discussion on October 14 from 6:30-7:30PM. The cost is free. \nClick here to register for the film screening and discussion. \nLevel 2   CDA 6    CC 6    Audience-All \n2.5 Credit Hours
