SUMMARY:Engaging Families to Better Understand the Benefits to Play Based Learning
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator: Liz Walker \nIt’s important for the educator to help parents understand that play is a valuable and purposeful part of a child’s learning and development. By engaging in play\, children are able to explore and make sense of the world around them\, develop important skills and knowledge\, and build social connections with their peers. As educators\, we carefully plan and design activities that align with children’s interests and abilities\, while also promoting their learning and growth. So\, while it may look like the children are just playing\, they are actually engaging in activities that are intentional\, purposeful\, and meaningful.  \nIn this session\, participants will talk about various ways they can communicate the importance of Play Based Learning and how to answer many of the families’ questions and concerns for how this type of learning is not only preparing children for kindergarten but for their entire life as well.  We will discuss how to incorporate this message through newsletters\, blogs\, pedagogical documentation\, and family meetings. \nNotice: This is an in person class located at 4-C’s new office!   \nLocation: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) \n908 S. 8th Street\, Suite 201\, Louisville\, KY 40203 (Map) \nLevel 2   CDA 4  CC 6\,1   Audience- All \n2 Credit Hours \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur. SUMMARY:Safe and Healthy Children are Ready to Learn
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator: Courtney Pearce \nPhysical health and well-being are dependent upon children and families having access to nutritious food\, shelter\, and resources. Children need access to places to play and exercise to be healthy. Children must also have support for their mental and emotional health\, which includes helping them to build secure identities\, engage in responsive relationships and feel loved and respected.  Traumatic and stressful childhood experiences can place children at great risk for emotional and mental health challenges that can last a lifetime. It is vital that early educators understand how to support children who are dealing with distressing moments in their lives. This session will give educators an introduction into how to offer concrete support in times of need\, provide guidance on what trauma is and is not\, and offer play as the solution for healing\, health\, and connection. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nLevel 1   CDA 1\,4  CC 2\,6   Audience- All \n2 Credit Hours \nNotice: This is an in person class located at 4-C’s new office!   \nLocation: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) \n908 S. 8th Street\, Suite 201\, Louisville\, KY 40203 (Map) \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur. SUMMARY:Strengthening Families: Social and Emotional Development
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator  Liz Walker: \nThis training will help you understand how to support children in learning how to positively interact with others\, self-regulate their behaviors\, and effectively communicate their feelings – all of which have positive impacts on their relationships with family members\, other adults\, and peers. Challenging behaviors or delayed development can create extra stress for families\, so early identification and support for both parents and the child are critical to keeping children on track. It’s never easy to start these conversations\, and it can be hard to find the right resources. Join 4-C to discover some talking points\, local resources\, and more! By the end of the session\, you will feel more confident in understanding social-emotional development\, and in your ability to refer families to needed resources as challenges arise. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Kosair Charities Face It Movement. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. SUMMARY:Director Essentials: The Power of Human Connection
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator  Angie Kinser: \nWe live in a time when it is easier to hop on a virtual training session or complete an eCourse than to attend in-person training. During the COVID-19 pandemic\, we learned and became accustomed to the convenience of attending a training session online\, but convenience does not always mean better. There is a power in human connection that cannot be replicated using technology and a laptop or smartphone device. During this session\, participants will explore the topic of human connection and the role face-to-face training plays in building resilience. When adults build connection and resiliency\, they can then model these skills for children and other adults. Participants will be engaged in various activities that include having conversations that matter. According to Paul J. Meyer\,  “Communication and human connection is the key to personal and career success.” Are you ready to learn about the power of human connection? Let’s have conversations that matter. Matter to whom? Matters to you.   \nNotice: This is an in person class located at 4-C’s new office!   \nLocation: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) \n908 S. 8th Street\, Suite 201\, Louisville\, KY 40203 (Map) \nLevel 2   CDA 6  CC 3   Audience-Directors \n2 Credit Hours \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur.
