SUMMARY:There’s More Than One Way to Say It: An Introduction to Assistive and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator : Abigail Black \nThis three-hour introductory training explores the foundations of Assistive and Augmentative Communication (AAC)  and its role in supporting children with disabilities and diverse communication needs. Participants will learn about different types of AAC\, how AAC can be incorporated into everyday routines and play\, and how educators can create communication-rich environments where every child has meaningful opportunities to participate. \nThrough examples\, discussion\, and hands-on activities\, participants will examine common misconceptions about AAC and learn practical strategies for modeling and supporting its use. SUMMARY:Director Essentials: Supporting Social-Emotional Growth in Early Childhood Programs
DESCRIPTION:Facilitator:  Angie Kinser \nStrong social and emotional development is the foundation for children’s learning\, behavior\, and lifelong success. In this training for early childhood directors\, participants will explore how to support the development of secure relationships\, emotional regulation\, empathy\, and social skills across classrooms and programs. \nDirectors will examine the role leadership plays in shaping environments where social-emotional learning is embedded into daily routines\, interactions\, and curriculum. Through reflection and discussion\, participants will identify strategies for coaching teachers\, strengthening classroom practices\, and creating consistent approaches that support children’s emotional needs. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. This training will be conducted via Zoom\, and you will be required to participate via video and audio through a computer\, phone\, or tablet.
