Participants will learn the early signs of maltreatment and the various injuries and conditions that may result from vigorous shaking\, slamming or impacting the head of an infant or young child. They will also be provided tools for dealing with a crying infant and ways to share information with parents to prevent abuse from occurring. DESCRIPTION:Center time is such a vital part of the day where children are concerned – how they are set up\, the amount of time spent in them\, and the number of children allowed inside them. Something to think about: Do you have time limits\, or limits to the number of children you allow in the centers? How do you end a child’s play in a center when it’s time to transition to a new activity? Do you use bells or timers? Do you have them leave for another center before they are finished? Or do you allow them the time they need to complete what they are working on. This is such a big part of a child’s work and needs to be given full attention too.
