SUMMARY:Strengthening Families - Knowledge of Child Development
DESCRIPTION:Accurate information about child development and appropriate expectations for children’s behavior at every age help parents see their children and youth in a positive light and promote their healthy development. Information can come from many sources\, including family members as well as parent education classes and surfing the internet. Studies show information is most effective when it comes at the precise time parents need it to understand their own children. Parents who experienced harsh discipline or other negative childhood experiences may need extra help to change the parenting patterns they learned as children. Please join us to learn more about how you as an early childhood professional can support families for optimal outcomes for their family and community. \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Kosair Charities Face It Movement. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. This training will be conducted via Zoom\, and you will be required to participate via video and audio through a computer\, phone\, or tablet. \nLevel 2   CDA 4\, 8  CC 1\, 6   Audience-All \n2 Credit Hours

SUMMARY:Why is Center Time so Important?
DESCRIPTION:Center time is such a vital part of the day where children are concerned – how they are set up\, the amount of time spent in them\, and the number of children allowed inside them. Something to think about: Do you have time limits\, or limits to the number of children you allow in the centers? How do you end a child’s play in a center when it’s time to transition to a new activity? Do you use bells or timers? Do you have them leave for another center before they are finished? Or do you allow them the time they need to complete what they are working on. This is such a big part of a child’s work and needs to be given full attention too. It also frees you up to do those most important observations that you need to make time to do. Please bring your favorite table activity to the table as there will be time to play. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. This training will be conducted via Zoom\, and you will be required to participate via video and audio through a computer\, phone\, or tablet. \nLevel 1   CDA 1\, 3  CC 1\, 4   Audience-All \n2 Credit Hours

SUMMARY:School Readiness Series - Promoting health and well-being! Healthy children lead to school ready children!
DESCRIPTION:Let’s talk about how healthy eating habits\, regular exercise\, sleeping well and stress management lead to greater school readiness. Did you know that just 20 minutes of playtime can increase a child’s mental well-being? Promoting nutrition\, playtime and movement are a few ways in which we can support school readiness. Readiness doesn’t mean sitting and listening. Research has proven that regular physical activity and lots of playtime support healthy development and lead to greater lifelong success and health\, not just in childhood but throughout life! Join 4-C and other educators to learn more about how you can support your children in moving more\, eating differently and sleeping better. This session will also provide insights into supporting children’s mental well-being and practical strategies for helping preschool children manage stress. \nParticipants will have the option of earning one hour of additional free credit by completing the post-work independent study. This workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Community Early Childhood Council through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training.
