DESCRIPTION:Promoting strong\, healthy family relationships provides far-reaching benefits that go beyond the family itself. Healthy families lead to healthy children\, communities and economic prosperity. Strengthening Families Concrete Support in Times of Need will help you connect families to resources in times of need. Every family\, at some point\, needs support. “A time of need” can be described as the birth of a child\, supporting a child with special needs\, choosing the right center or school for the family needs\, trauma\, mental illness\, violence or poverty. This session aims to educate providers on how to strengthen the family’s ability to access services and advocate for their needs. By the end of the session providers will know how to direct families to early intervention supports\, and access 211 which is the Louisville\, KY based essential community services hotline. The purpose of this training is to provide educators with the knowledge to fill out a developmental screener known as ASQ 3. When the educators learn how to use the ASQ 3 they will discover the value it has  to ensure proper development and a way to engage in dialogue with families. Engaging in conversation teachers will provide information to help guide parents in filling out the screener for their child. Educators will also gain skills to help families to understand how to use the ASQ 3 and how it will support development of their child. In addition participants will learn where to turn to if a child has a developmental delay and how to communicate concerns with families in respectful ways! Teachers will go in-depth about how to recognize the different types of learning that happens in a natural environment.
