As children grow more confident with art materials\, they begin to use them as a language to express what they know\, feel\, and wonder. In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll learn how to cultivate the language of art through process-based art explorations and intentional classroom practices. Discover how to thoughtfully set up art spaces\, choose open-ended materials\, and guide young artists without limiting their creativity. These patterns aren’t random—they’re schemas! In this engaging three-hour training\, early childhood educators will dive into the fascinating world of schematic play. Participants will learn to recognize the most common schemas in young children\, understand how these patterns support development\, and explore ways to plan responsive\, meaningful learning experiences that nurture each child’s natural curiosity. Through real-life examples\, hands-on activities\, and collaborative planning\, educators will leave feeling inspired to observe more deeply\, plan more intentionally\, and advocate for the importance of play in early learning. \n12:30-3:30 Loose Parts Play: Fostering Creativity\, Curiosity\, and Problem Solving – Facilitator Angie Kinser \nIn this hands-on training\, educators will discover loose parts play\, an approach that fosters creativity\, exploration\, and critical thinking in young children. Participants will examine the value of loose parts as tools for open-ended\, child-directed learning and discover how these materials support all areas of development. Through discussion and activities\, educators will learn how to design engaging invitations to play using loose parts\, and how to incorporate these experiences into daily routines. Educators will also collaborate in small groups to design and set up their own invitations to play using a variety of loose parts\, gaining practical strategies they can bring back to their classrooms. \nBy attending a professional development opportunity\, you are entering an area where photography\, audio and video recording may occur.
