Child Development Center Director

Overview
Child Development Center in the Portland Community, education focused programming utilizing Creative Curriculum.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Social Services, or Education, preferred.
  • Minimum of Associates Degree with at least three years direct experience with children or CDA with at least two years post certificate experience.
  • Prior experience in the human services field, including program development.
  • Supervisory/management experience required.
  • Able to transport in personal vehicle and agency vehicle.

Job Skills/Requirements

  • Provide program development and supervisory oversight to Child Development Center programs for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
  • Hire, train and evaluate the performance of assigned program personnel.
  • Responsible for overall management and development of the Center, including personnel, curriculum, evaluation, licensing, nutrition program, billing and scheduling.
  • Develop and implement approved budgets for assigned programs.
  • Cultivates a positive environment for employees, children and parents to learn and grow together.
  • Assist in the writing of program grants and in other program related fund raising efforts.
  • Responsible for implementation and oversight of grant programs, including implementation, documentation, and grant reports.
  • Ensure programs are implemented according to professional licensing standards, our stated guiding principles and agency policy and procedures.
  • Establish guidelines for staff to maintain and keep appropriate records for required documentation.
  • Provide for a healthy and safe work and play environment. Ensure staff clean/organize areas after use.
  • As an agency Director, participate in agency functions and needs, including assistance with public relations, community events, inter-agency events, facilities maintenance, etc.
  • Communicate with program stakeholders, including parents, local service providers and volunteers, regarding program needs and events.
  • Available on call as may be needed for emergency or staffing/ programming issues

LCCC is seeking a creative, energetic early childhood teacher with experience in implementing an early childhood education program for a unit of 12 to 18 children primarily between the ages of 1 to 2 in Kentucky state-licensed edcuational environment.  An individual who has significant skills in teaching young children and working with para-professionals is desired. The ability to support parents as first teachers is a must. A commitment to a high quality child development program with sound customer-oriented people skills, verbal and written communications and analytical problem-solving skills are desired. Supervising several staff members is a critical part of the work. National accreditation is a corporate goal. Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching in an early childhood educational environment is desired. An associate degree or a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate is preferred. Personal automobile for work related travel is expected. Individual must be physically capable of performing all child development tasks daily five days per week.
