Enhancing Early Childhood Assessment Skills with the Four-Step Cycle

In this training, early childhood educators will be introduced to a comprehensive four-step assessment cycle. Step one involves frequent and contextually appropriate observations of children. In step two, educators will learn to analyze these observations and make informed choices on how to respond. Moving to step three, participants will evaluate their observations using principles of child growth and development. Finally, in step four, educators will learn to summarize, plan, and effectively communicate their assessments.

Upon completion of this session, educators will be equipped to adeptly observe, analyze, and evaluate within a developmentally appropriate framework. These essential skills enable educators to tailor their plans to the unique needs of each child and inform classroom instruction, ensuring a more comprehensive and effective approach to child assessment.
