Emergent curriculum is a philosophy of teaching and a way of planning a curriculum for children that focuses on being responsive to their interests. It is based on the principle that children learn more effectively when engaged in meaningful experiences relatable to their own lives. In this method, educators observe the children and create a curriculum that evolves from their observations and responses to the student interests and inquiries. During this E-course educators will read an article, watch a video, observe the children in their care, and respond to reflective questions to gain an understanding of an emergent curriculum in action.
This course is an interactive e-learning experience, and participants will need access to a computer or tablet that is connected to the internet. You will complete this module at your own pace, working through a variety of activities (videos, articles, short-answer responses, assignments, quizzes, etc.).
