Children that are Safe and Healthy are More Ready to Learn
November 19 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Facilitator : Courtney Pearce
Physical health and well-being are dependent upon children and families having access to nutritious food, shelter, and resources. Children need access to places to play and exercise to be healthy. Children must also have support for their mental and emotional health, which includes helping them to build secure identities, engage in responsive relationships and feel loved and respected. Traumatic and stressful childhood experiences can place children at great risk for emotional and mental health challenges that can last a lifetime. It is vital that early educators understand how to support children who are dealing with distressing moments in their lives. This session will give educators an introduction into how to offer concrete support in times of need, provide guidance on what trauma is and is not, and offer play as the solution for healing, health, and connection.
This workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood.
