Director Essentials: Protecting Play in Early Childhood Education
November 11 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Facilitator: Angie Kinser
Play is how young children learn best. In this training, participants will explore the role of play in supporting children’s cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development. As academic pressures and structured schedules continue to increase in early childhood settings, educators and directors will examine the importance of protecting time, space, and opportunities for meaningful child-led play.
Through discussion, reflection, and real-world examples, participants will identify common barriers that limit play and discover strategies for advocating for developmentally appropriate practices within their programs. Participants will explore how to create environments that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration while identifying the learning that naturally occurs through play experiences.
This workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood.
