Inclusive Physical Activities for Young Children

Learn to create environments that help young children with disabilities develop their movement skills in a natural setting while playing with typical peers. These physical activities need only inexpensive equipment and small spaces, can accommodate children of various ages and abilities, can be done by families at home, and are fun. Participants will: Describe developmentally appropriate, non-competitive, and inclusive physical activities for preschoolers of all abilities. Explain how to lead these physical activities using inexpensive equipment and small spaces to allow all preschoolers the freedom to experiment and explore movement. Describe how to modify each physical activity to include children with a wide variety of developmental delays and disabilities alongside typical peers.

This workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Regional Collaborative through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood.

Notice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training. This training will be conducted via Zoom, and you will be required to participate via video and audio through a computer, phone, or tablet. All classes are on Eastern Standard Time.
