Joys of Teaching Community of Practice Session 3: Observing, planning, and creating meaningful learning!

Observation is a choice and requires interpretation! Join this community of practice to discover the skills of observing with joy! Observation involves being specific, noticing details, describing the details of the tone or mood within the observation. All observations have a beginning, middle and end and occur within the context of a relationship. During this session, educators will explore how observing children allows adults to become more aware of the child and their unique way of noticing, playing and growing. This type of observation allows educators to not only notice the children’s skills and knowledge but also their thinking or ideas. By the end of the session, educators will know how, where and why to observe and will have some simple next steps for making learning visible.

The Joys of Teaching Community of Practice will meet monthly on the fourth Thursday from 4:30-6:30 pm EST through June 2022. The cost is free. Each COP is approved for 2 hours of ECE-TRIS credit.
