Supporting STARS Series: Understanding the Cycle of Inquiry to Implement Authentic Curriculum Assessment
February 21 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
- This event has passed.
Early childhood professionals will learn strategies to implement authentic assessment by being introduced to the cycle of inquiry which includes offering provocations, observing explorations, documenting learning, and reflecting with others. By the end of the session, the educators will be able to use observation and data to inform the curriculum to offer provocations that are tailored to the needs of the children. Observing, documenting, and assessing each child’s development and learning are essential processes for educators and programs to plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the experiences they provide to children. This assessment session will help educators understand how to utilize both formal and informal measures as tools for monitoring children’s progress toward learning goals. Educators can be intentional about helping children to progress when they know where each child is with respect to learning goals.
This workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Jefferson County Community Early Childhood Council through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood.
