Planting a Seed of Care

July 20 & 27, 2021 and Rescheduled date August 10, 2021

The 5th Annual Heart Centered Teaching Institute: Planting a Seed of Care is coming July 2021, and this year it's virtual! Join us for an engaging three days of learning and reflection as we dive into the concepts of connecting with families, supporting schemas in learning environments and the benefits of risky play in natural playscapes. Each day offers a chance to learn from experts in the field of early childhood education as well as each other.

Planting a Seed of Care is all about growing our relationships - our relationships to children, to families, to the environment, and to ourselves. After a year of isolation, how do we deepen our connections? How do we lessen children's anxiety and build resiliency through play? How do we take stock of where we are as educators and plan for the future we want to create with the children and families in our care?

Day one Keynote Speaker Kelly Ramsey will leave you energized and re-connected in "Be Inspired! Creating a new space for Early Childhood Educators with vision and purpose." Day two Featured Speakers Nadia Jaboneta and Brian Silveira share stories and approaches to encourages us to reflect on our views of children's competence in their session "Schemas and Social Connections."  Day three Featured Speaker Rusty Keeler will lead us through an exploration of our views on children in nature and what decisions we make in directing children's play in "Adventures in Risky Play: What is Your Yes?"

Join us for an exciting three days of professional development, reflection, and learning!

Day One: July 20, 2021 5:30 - 8:00 PM

Keynote Speaker Kelly Ramsey

Be Inspired! Creating a new space for Early Childhood educators with vision and purpose.

Come join us for an inspiring dialogue about the work of the educator as a pedagogical leader. Our journey begins with our story, weaving the threads from our life as an educator and the experiences we have encountered.

• Reimagining our work in the field of early childhood education creates a new landscape for children and families. We will journey together through the lens of the learner. Captivating our hearts and minds as we listen, share, and discover new ways of wholehearted living with purpose.

• Re-igniting hope, amplifying teachers’ voices, and creating a vision for a better tomorrow.

• Come be re-centered, re-connected and refreshed as we breathe deeply, laugh heartily and learn together.

Are you ready to be inspired?

Day Three: July 27, 2021 5:30 - 8:00 PM

Featured Speaker Rusty Keeler

Adventures in Risky Play: What is Your Yes?

Go to the heart of risk-taking and children. As parents and educators working with young children, we all have boundaries and feelings around what risky play should be allowed. Examine the cage of boundaries that we have created for ourselves and our children. Challenge each other to rattle our cage and discover where the lines are movable. In our role as educators and caretakers, when we allow children to play and confront risk on their own terms, we see them develop, hold their locus of control and make choices on how to navigate the bumpy terrain of a situation. What better teaching tool for life is there?
